Twelve Aggie Angels

Twelve Aggie Angels looked down from above,
And smiled as they saw the outpouring of love.
As a cloud of grief settled over their beloved Aggieland,
It was surprising to see who was there to lend a hand.
Logs were moved, candles were lit, maroon ribbons donned,
And rivals joined together and found a common bond.
It didn't seem to matter that the schools had different names,
For all across the country, hearts were aching just the same.
As they watched from heaven, their Aggie hearts were filled with pride,
They heard every prayer that was prayed and saw every tear that was cried.
The angels watched in amazement as events began to unfold,
And thought about that spirit - the one can ne'er be told.
How many times had others asked them to explain it?
Yet, now, for all these people a perfect picture had been painted,
Of what it means to be an Aggie; a whole bigger than its parts,
And how that special spirit binds our souls, our minds, our hearts.
The Aggie family drew together and comforted all its own,
And as we opened up our hearts, who would have ever known?
That so many on the outside might understand a little bit that day,
Showing compassion, support and true Aggie spirit in so many different ways.
As we all remember how to hope and trust and love,
Twelve Aggie Angels smile down from above.
