Nehemiah Hicks will have the opportunity to come in and make an immediate impact as a freshman next fall for the Aggies. With senior tight end Jamie McCoy graduating and a youthful D-Line, Hicks will have the ability to showcase his duel threat athletic ability to the A&M coaching staff when he arrives in Aggieland. While Hicks feels he is better suited for defense, the A&M coaching staff feels different. Nehemiah got a chance to catch up with the A&M staff after the big win over Baylor on Saturday.

"When I talked to Coach Sherman he told me they wanted me on offense. I prefer defense but it's whatever gets me on the field early. Wherever they need me the most I'll play it."

"Coach told me how he can't wait to get my class in here next year."

Hicks finished his senior year at Hutto High School with 3 receptions for 122 yards on offense and 56 tackles, 4 sacks, 2 deflections, 3 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries on defense.

"I can see why they want me at tightend. My blocking has really improved from my junior year to my senior year. I'm really confident at either side of the ball. I see how much they use Jamie [McCoy] and Kenny [Brown], my hands are one of my biggest strengths."

Hicks is excited about getting up to college station and his visit to A&M this weekend reassured his decision.

"There has never been any doubt in my mind about my decision. All I wanted to see was progress and this weekend showed me how good this team can be with a little help."

The future ocean engineering major has already established relationships with numerous A&M commits in his class and current players.

"Me, Jameill [Showers], and Nate [Askew] bonded real well at the camps this summer. Both of those guys are incredibly talented. I saw that Nate was invited to the Army All-American game and Jameill throws one of the best balls I have ever seen. K.J. Williams, Jerrod, and Patrick Lewis are guys that have gone out of their way to keep up with me and who I look up to a lot. "

Nehemiah has gone out of his way to show his affection for Texas A&M.

"I just got started on my A&M tattoo. It's on my back and it's got the silhouette of Texas with an ATM on the back. I'm going to fill the ATM in with maroon. My ringback tone on my phone has the Aggie War Hymn, so I guess you could say I am a little hardcore."

Hicks will take his official visit to Texas A&M on December 11-13. That weekend will be a big recruiting week for A&M. Hicks said Nate Askew, Clay Honeycutt, and Jameill Showers will also be on hand that week.
