Desmond Gardiner spoke with Aggie Websider's Taylor Hamm about his upcoming move to Aggieland and…
Catching up with Andrew Weaver
"I came here because of Mike Sherman. Other schools like Texas Tech, Baylor, and Missouri tried to sway me to come there late but they did not even have a chance with me, and that is because none of those schools have a coach as talented as Coach Sherman."
Andrew is working hard over the off-season to improve his speed and agility. He works out 4 days a week and is following Coach Kennedy's workout program.
"My workouts are intense. Coach Kennedy's workouts have me in the best shape of my life. I have lost 20lbs in the past month and a half and I'm currently 220lbs."
This weight loss has allowed Weaver to clock in his fastest 40yrd dash time, 4.7 flat. He sees himself playing outside linebacker or the JACK position.
"I want to be one of those hybrid types of linebackers. I want to be able to rush the quarterback but also have the ability to drop back into coverage. The JACK position is where I could see myself fitting in real well at."
June 11th is Weaver's scheduled move to Aggieland and he is excited about rooming with Christine Michael and Desmond Gardiner. Weaver has established good relationships with numerous current and future Aggie players such as Jerrod Johnson, Cyrus Gray, Rhontae Scales, and Malcolm Johnson.
"The first visit to A&M had me from Howdy. The hospitality there is like nowhere else I visited. I loved everything about my visit to A&M and that is why I chose to go there."
Andrew wants to major in physical therapy with the possibility of changing it to sport management. Weaver's goal is to start his freshman year and lead the Aggies to a Big 12 championship during his tenure at A&M.
