Could the Aggies Get Another Pledge Today?

Aggie Websider has the scoop on whether today will mark eleven commitments in just over two weeks time for the Aggies. Get all the information inside.

With 10 commitments in the past two weeks, the Texas A&M coaching staff continues to build momentum in the Class of 2010 as the remaining spots dwindle. That number could increase today according to South Beauregard (LA) defensive lineman Ivan Robinson.

"I'm still planning to commit to Texas A&M Tuesday night," Robinson said. "They are recruiting me the hardest and I have a chance to play early."

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound athlete from Louisiana recently attended an Aggie junior day and spring practice and came away very impressed with the football program and the university.

"The facilities are impressive. The dorms are really nice," Robinson said. "But what I really like are the coaches and players. They are all laid back and I felt comfortable."

Robinson's combination of size, athletic ability, and speed has been key to his success at the high school level where he collected over 100 tackles as a junior last fall. It's that combination that has Texas A&M head coach Mike Sherman pushing hard to land a much-needed difference maker in the middle.

"Coach Sherman says he wants speed and somebody who can get to the ball and make plays," Robinson said. "That's my game right there. I find a way to get to the ball. I also have a heart for the game. I do whatever it takes to get the job done."

While Robinson has offers on the table from only Texas A&M and McNeese State, the word has gotten out to other D-1 college coaches and his recruitment has picked up in the past couple of weeks. Jumping into the mix are schools such as Tennessee, Baylor, Georgia, Minnesota, Nebraska, LSU, and Mississippi State. In fact, before Robinson plans to commit, he's heading to Baton Rouge with his coaches today to visit with the LSU coaching staff.

"My coaches wanted me to check it out and see what the LSU coaches have to say," Robinson said. "We're leaving Tuesday morning."

So, will an LSU offer change his scheduled plans to commit to the Texas A&M coaching staff Tuesday night?

"I don't think so. I like everything about Texas A&M," Robinson said. "I have an opportunity to have an early impact there and make a difference. They are turning it around there and that's where I'm comfortable."

The Aggie Websider will have the latest on Robinson's visit to LSU and will track his commitment status Tuesday evening.
