Cotton Ready to Visit
"I've heard from Texas, Texas A&M, Michigan, LSU, Nebraska, and OU," Cotton said. "I'm scheduled to make LSU's junior day in January."
Cotton says it's too early to name a leader and he's open to most teams at this point, although he's most familiar with Big 12 teams like Texas, OU, and Texas A&M.
"I went to A&M's junior day last year and I've been to some games, so I know a lot about the Aggies," Cotton said. "I talk to Martellus Bennett (Alief Taylor graduate) and he speaks very highly of A&M. I have the same type of personality, so I may fit there too."
While Texas A&M hasn't officially offered him a scholarship on paper, the A&M staff has hinted that an offer is not far away.
"Coach Malone (A&M asst. coach) talked to our defensive coordinator," Cotton said. "He said that an offer was coming. They want me and now it's just a matter of time to get the paperwork to me."
The 6-foot-4, 280-pound lineman currently has offers in hand from Texas, Nebraska, and OU. With his high school team eliminated from the playoffs, he can now focus on visiting schools and narrowing down his list of favorites.
"I'm going to go to as many junior days and campus visits as I can in the next couple of months," Cotton said. "I'd like to make a decision early and have this out of the way before spring."
Cotton said that his game improved as a junior and he's ready to take it to another level again as a senior. He credits his knowledge of the game and his aggressive for his success on the field.
"This year, I improved by knowing the game better and knowing where I should be. Just doing the little things out there," Cotton said. "But my game is about being physical, using my strength, and being aggressive. I never give up on a play, and I'm relentless."
As far as picking a college to attend, Cotton indicated that he wants to play for a winning program and he wants to feel comfortable with his future coaches, teammates, and the school's overall environment.
