Jordan declares for NBA draft

Posted Apr 9, 2008

Texas A&M freshman center DeAndre Jordan announced on Tuesday that he will enter his name in the NBA draft, but will not sign with an agent.

Texas A&M freshman center DeAndre Jordan will submit his name into the 2008 NBA draft but will not sign with an agent, leaving him the option of returning to the Aggies next season.

"I just want to test the waters and get a good feel for where I might be drafted,” Jordan said.

A 7-foot, 255-pounder from Houston , Jordan averaged 7.9 points and led the Aggies in rebounding (6.0), blocked shots (44) and field goal percentage (.617).

"DeAndre wants to explore where he might be in this year’s draft," A&M Head Coach Mark Turgeon said. “This is the first step in that process."

The Aggies finished 25-11 on the season - the third most wins in school history -- and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, where they were eliminated by No. 1 seed UCLA, 51-49.
