Square discusses A&M visit
The Scout.com four star prospect wavered on that commitment and eventually de-committed from the Aggies a couple of months later in the spring, citing that he wanted to see more schools and weigh his options. Due to the diligence of A&M assistant coach Van Malone, the Aggies were again on the verge of gaining the commitment of the coveted defensive lineman after attending the prestigious Game Night Camp in July.
However, the following week Square made a trip to attend one of Nick Saban's summer camps at Alabama, and the Texan was immediately drawn to the head coach and the talent that he was accumulating in Tuscaloosa. Shortly after returning from that camp, Square committed to the Crimson Tide, a commitment that has held strong over the past six months.
For a third time, Square is again flirting with the home state Aggies, and last weekend he traveled up to College Station with teammate and Texas A&M commit Leroy Chevalier to meet with the new coaching staff to see if he got the same feeling as he did the previous two trips to the campus.
"I respect the Texas A&M program and their coaches, so I went up there to see if I got that same feeling I did when I originally committed," Square said. "I had a very good visit."
But was it enough to sway the Houston native from his verbal pledge to the Crimson Tide?
"My heart is at Alabama," Square said. "Texas A&M is a great place. Coach Sherman, Coach Wyatt, and especially Coach Malone are great coaches and they will do well, but I just didn't get the same feeling there as I do when I go to Alabama."
So does this end the recruiting process for the talented prospect?
"I don't know. I'm not sure if coaches are still going to schedule in-home visits or stop by the school," Square said. "But I'm 100% committed to Alabama, and I told the A&M coaches that before I left."
