His Crank Dat single is the No. 1 downloaded song in the nation, and the dance that goes with it is the hottest thing among high school and college kids since Vanilla Ice. Soulja Boy will bring his song and his dance to Reed Arena next Friday night.
Texas A&M
Athletic Department is cranking it up a notch for Maroon Madness this year--literally.
As reported exclusively in the premium forums of websider.com on Wednesday morning, hit rapper
Soulja Boy
--whose smash hit
Crank Dat
is the No. 1 song in the country--will headline Maroon Madness next Friday night, October 12, at Reed Arena.
The
Crank Dat
music video
has nearly 12.5 million views on youtube.com.
As of late Wednesday night, before news of Soulja Boy's appearance had broken, the event invitation on the online networking site Facebook had already boasted more than 900 confirmed attendees for Maroon Madness. Once news of the headliner reaches students, those numbers are sure to soar.
The athletic department could charge $10 per person and still pack Reed Arena for what is sure to be one of the biggest events in Aggie Basketball history. In terms of recruiting, this may be the single largest event in school history.
Everything starts at 10 PM Friday Oct. 12th and doors open at 9 PM
Everyone must have a free ticket to enter. Students and season ticket holders can begin pulling tickets on Monday at Kyle Field, Reed Box Office, or your local Rudy's. On Wednesday, the remaining tickets will be open to the public.
As always, Aggie Websider will keep you posted on the details as they become available.
