After just four months as the head coach at Texas A&M, Mark Turgeon is already making waves, signing…
Aggies impress Harris
"It went well. I really liked the campus and Reed Arena and the new practice facility will be nice," Harris said. "They treated my family well. Really, they all seemed like a big family."
In particular, Harris felt at ease with the new head coach of the Aggies.
"Coach Turgeon is very friendly and I felt comfortable around him," Harris said. "He wants to win and he has that mindset. He won it all as a college player and knows what it takes."
Harris also toured the player dorms and met with academic advisors as well, getting a good overview of the Texas A&M experience. While Harris was making his first trip to Aggieland, the 6-foot, 170-pound floor leader was somewhat familiar with the university and the basketball program.
"I knew a little bit about Texas A&M before I went there," Harris said. "I have family in Houston (aunt and cousin) and they told me about the Aggies and the loyal fan base. I also watched them some on TV last year. I followed Acie Law a lot."
Harris is being pursued and has been offered by many top programs in the nation, with the most attention coming from Indiana, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and California along with the Aggies to name a few. So where does he stand in the process after this most recent visit?
"I'd say that Texas A&M is right there at the top. They are my leader now," Harris said.
So where does the talented point guard stand with the recruiting process and a timetable for a final decision?
"I need to sit down with my family and talk it over, but a decision could come at any time. I just don't know when right now," Harris said. "I don't have any other visits planned."
Harris has a lot of speed and quickness and he claims his ability to create for his teammates is his best asset. He can get to the basket and he says that his jump shot is "coming along" as well.
Harris is looking to continue improving on his outside shot and increasing his strength before he finishes his senior year at Montverde Academy and heads to college.
