One of the top prospects at the Scout.com combine in Waco was tight end Frank Avery from Ball High in Galveston, Texas. He had a number of offers to choose from, but ultimately chose to stay close to home.
"I committed to Texas A&M," Avery said. "I think it was mainly because it felt like home. All of my friends and family felt like it was the right place for me too."
The 6-foot-5, 203-pound Avery ran the 40-yard dash in 4.75 seconds, the shuttle in 4.72 seconds and posted a 25-inch vertical jump.
"At this point I don't know if I would visit any other schools," Avery said. "I guess we'll just have to say, but right now I am a firm commitment and don't have anyone else in mind that I would want to visit."
During his junior campaign Avery was a second team all-district selection.
"Texas A&M was always at the top," Avery said. "There were other schools I considered, but A&M was always in my heart. I called the coaches and told them I was committing and they were real happy."
