Texas A&M won a hard-fought conference battle against a scrappy Baylor team on Saturday at Reed Arena in College Station, beating the Bears 72-70.

Joseph Jones led all scoring for Texas A&M (13-5, 3-4 Big 12), finishing the day 13-19 and compiling 29 points and 10 rebounds. Acie Law scored 16 points and Josh Carter added nine for the Aggies.

Baylor’s Curtis Jerrells held the high mark for the Bears with 18 points. The Bears were 16-of-30 from 3-point range for 53 percent, helping to keep them in the game and giving them the lead at one point late in the first half.

The Aggies opened the second half with an 11-0 run and led Baylor (0-6, 0-6 Big 12) by as much as 12 points, but the Bears kept things close until the end.

The loss was Baylor’s 20th straight. The NCAA banned the Bears from non-conference play this season due to violations.

The Aggies continue conference play on Wednesday at 7 p.m when they travel to Norman, Oklahoma to face the Sooners.
