The Aggies look to bounce back from a tough Iowa State loss when they face conference foe, Texas Tech this Saturday. The Red Raiders have won the last five meetings in Lubbock between the two squads.
The teams:
Texas A&M
(5-3, 3-2) at
Texas Tech
(7-1, 4-1)
When:
Saturday, November 5, 2005 - 6 p.m. kick-off
Location:
Jones SBC Stadium (55,000) • Lubbock, Texas
Television:
Fox Sports Net. Broadcast crew: Drew Goodman (play-by-play), Gary Reasons (analyst) and Jim Knox (sideline)
Radio:
Texas A&M Radio Network
. Dave South (play-by-play), Dave Elmendorf (commentary), Tom Turbiville (sideline)
Sirius Satellite:
Channel 144
Series:
Texas A&M and Texas Tech have been going to battle against each other on the gridiron since 1927. The Aggies have a 34-27-1 advantage in the all-time series, but A&M hasn’t won in Lubbock since the Ags’ 31-6 victory in 1993.
Texas A&M Head Coach
Dennis Franchione
on coaching against Texas Tech:
“I think you respect their ability offensively to score quickly. In every game you make a game plan--or you have a thought process as to what is best for your team to handle a game. Each one has it's unique identity to it. Certainly this one does, too.”
Franchione on the Aggies’ many season-ending injuries in ‘05:
"I duck when I see the trainers coming in the hallways, and things like that. In fact, David Weir (football trainer) just came up to talk to me about something else and I said, 'What are you doing here?' It's just one of those things. You get injuries, you have to close ranks, you have to march on and you can't sit around and dwell on what you don't have. You've got to be concerned of what you do have."
Texas Tech Head Coach
Mike Leach
on the Red Raiders’ third-down conversion efficiency :
"I'm not real happy with how we played on third downs," Leach said. "We are sitting there in the middle [6th in the Big 12], but we have led the nation in that category before. There is no reason why we can't get back to that.”
Notes:
The Aggies dropped a 42-14 decision to
Iowa State
last week at Kyle Field … The Red Raiders come into this week’s game fresh off a 28-0 shut-out win at
Baylor
… Texas Tech has won seven of the last 10 overall meetings between the two programs … Tech announced Wednesday that a limited number of tickets remain for the home game against Texas A&M. Tickets are general admission and are priced at $75.
