Texas A&M fans "Rocked Reed Arena," and the Aggie team led No. 12-ranked Kansas in most statistical categories. Neither effort was enough to keep Texas A&M from falling to the Jayhawks 65-71 in the Aggies' Big 12 home opener at Reed Arena in front of a national ESPN television audience.

Head coach Melvin Watkins and the Aggies looked to take a step to the next level against the Jayhawks, but Kansas (9-2, 3-0) proved too much for an Aggie team that once again got off to a hot start only to fall off in the game's later minutes. The Aggies (7-6, 0-2) led for most of the first half and only trailed the Jayhawks 29-31 at the break. But a sluggish second half start prevented A&M from getting back into the game.

Texas A&M out-rebounded Kansas 40-35. They led in the turnover category as well, only giving up 13 to the Jayhawks' 16.

Antoine Wright led the Aggies with 25 points, and Keith Langford had 23 points for the Jayhawks. But Kansas hit 60% of their 3-pointers as compared to 21.4% of Texas A&M's.

Texas A&M travels to Manhattan, Kansas to face Kansas State (8-4, 0-1) on Wednesday, January 21.
