Texas A&M's men's hoops squad started the new year successfully, beating Louisiana-Monroe 75-67 Saturday night in Louisiana.

Despite a 14-3 surge late in the game, the Indians (4-10) were not able to pull ahead of a determined Texas A&M (6-4) team that started hot, hitting its first four 3-point shots and building to a 16-3 lead. Early in the second half, A&M managed to stretch the lead to 19 points.

Rebounds were the difference in this one. The Aggies outrebounded Louisiana-Monroe by a lopsided total of 43-16. Antoine Wright, Andy Slocum and Acie Law each grabbed eight.

Jesse King and Wright scored 19 points apiece for Texas A&M, and Leandro Garcia-Morales added 14 points, including all four of his 3-point attempts.

The Aggies wrap up non-conference play when they host Long Island on Tuesday, January 6 at 7pm.
