Manziel, Ags comeback win 52-48

Duke scored touchdowns on its first five possessions en route to a 38-17 halftime lead over Texas A&M. But the Aggie defense stiffened and Johnny Manziel led the Aggies to a 52-48 comeback win in the 2013 Chick-fil-A Bowl. Toney Hurd Jr scored a touchdown on a pick 6 interception to give the Aggies its first lead and Nate Askew snagged another interceptions to seal the win.

Duke scored touchdowns on its first five possessions enroute to a 38-17 halftime lead over Texas A&M in the 2013 Chick-fil-A Bowl. .

But the Aggie defense stiffened in the second half and Johnny Manziel had 455 yards and 5 TDs to lead the Aggies to a 52-48 comeback win.

Toney Hurd Jr scored a touchdown on a pick 6 interception to give the Aggies its first lead and Nate Askew snagged another interceptions to seal the win.

Leading 38-17 at the half, Duke received the opening kickoff of the third quarter and drove to the Aggie 35-yard line before, facing a 4th-and-1, an Anthony Boone pass attempt fell incomplete, turning the ball over on downs to Texas A&M.

Johnny Manziel and the Aggies drove 65 yards in 6 plays, with Texas A&M scoring on a Manziel acrobatic highlight in tossing a 19-yard touchdown pass to Travis Labhart to reduce the Duke lead to 38-24.

On the ensuing possession, Duke drove down to the Aggie 29-yard line but Ross Martin missed a 48-yard field goal attempt. Johnny Manziel completed 4 passes to move the Aggies to the Duke 21-yard line before Tra Carson scored a touchdown on a run around left end to cut the Duke lead to 38-31.

Duke mounted a 9-play, 73-yard drive but the Aggie defense forced Duke to settle for a 20-yard field goal, that gave Duke a 10-point lead, 41-31, at the end of the third quarter.

The Aggies responded with a 8-play, 65-yard drive, and Johnny Manzeil scored on a 3-yard run to cut the Duke lead to just three, 41-38.

Duke regained their 10-point lead, 48-38 with a 14-play, 75-yard drive that consumed 6 minutes, when Anthony Boone threw a 21-yard touchdown pass David Reeves with 6:46 to go in the game.

But it took the Aggies just a mnute to pull back to within three, when Johnny Manziel threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Derel Walker to make it 48-45 with 5:44 left in the game.

Duke tried to run some clock but facing 2nd-and-5 at midfield an Anthony Boone pass attempt was intercepted by Aggie nickel back Toney Hurd Jr. at the Texas A&M 45-yard line and Hurd returned the interception 55 yards for a touchdown to give the Aggies their first lead of the game 52-48 with 3:33 left in the game.

Duke drove the ball down the field to the Aggie 38-yard line where, facing 2nd-and-10, Anthony Boone was pressured and threw an ill advised pass that was intercepted by Texas A&M linebacker Nate Askew to seal the Aggie win. Texas A&M ran out the clock to complete an amzing comeback to win thr 2013 Chick-fil-A Bowl by a score of 52-48.

Johnny Manziel completed 30 of 38 passes for 382 yards and 4 TDs and rushed for 73 yards and 1 TD on 11 carries to lead the Aggie offensive attack. Travis Labhart caught 7 passes for 76 yards and 3 TDs, Derel Walker caught 6 passes for 116 yards and 1 TD, and Mike Evans caught 4 passes for 72 yards. Ben Malena rushed for 45 yards on 8 carries.

For Duke, Anthony Boone completed 29 of 45 passesfor 427 yards and 2 TDsw but with the 2 critical interceptions. Jamison Crowder caught 12 passes for 163 yards and 1 TD, while Braxton Deaver caught 6 passes for 116 yards. Josh Snead rushed for 104 yards and 1 TD on 17 carries and Juwan Thompson added 92 yards on 11 carries.
