The Texas Aggie basketball team doesn't have long to shake off the Thursday loss to Florida as the team hits the road for a quick turnaround against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The
Texas A&M
men’s basketball team hits the road this weekend for Tuscaloosa, Ala., where it will face
Alabama
on Saturday in a 5 p.m. contest at Coleman Coliseum. The contest will be televised by Fox Sports Network.
Texas A&M (12-4, 2-1 SEC) will be looking to bounce back after suffering its first SEC loss on Thursday night against No. 10/9
Florida
. The Aggies are 2-0 in true road games this season after defeating
Houston
at Hofheinz Pavilion on Dec. 1 and
Kentucky
at Rupp Arena on Jan. 12.
The Aggies got solid performances from a pair of freshman guards during their last outing as
Alex Caruso
finished with a team-high 12 points, including 11 after halftime, while fellow rookie J’Mychal Reese notched 10 points to crack the double-digit mark in scoring for the fifth time.
Alabama, meanwhile, comes into Saturday’s contest with a 10-6 overall record and a 2-1 mark in SEC play. The Crimson Tide opened league play with an 84-68 loss at No. 10/12
Missouri
on Jan. 8 before notching back-to-back victories over
Tennessee
and
Mississippi State
.
Head coach
Anthony Grant
is in his fourth season at the helm of the program after a successful previous coaching stint at Virginia Commonwealth. The all-time series between the schools stands at 6-3 in Alabama’s favor but the Aggies have won each of the last three meetings, most recently an 86-78 overtime win in Tuscaloosa on Dec. 13, 2008.
