Antoine plans two visits

Jermaine Antoine

If you're looking for an under-the-radar talent in Louisiana, look no further than the remote village of Loreauville -- where senior all-purpose star Jermaine Antoine plies his trade...

Jermaine Antoine pocketed a slew of early offers although his recruitment has largely remained quiet since late April.

"My grades are fine," Antoine said. "I just need to increase my ACT score by a point or two.

"I'm planning on visiting TCU and North Texas. I've been talking with Coach (Trey) Haverty from TCU. He likes me a lot. He says they might go ahead and offer before I get my test score."

Antoine ran for 93 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries Friday as Loreauville broke a two-game losing streak with a 47-0 rout of Jeanerette.

Loreauville, 8-2 on the year, procured a No. 14 seed yesterday when the LHSAA released the Class 2A brackets.

The Tigers will host No. 19 Ville Platte in the first round. Loreauville was in the same district with Ville Platte two years ago; Ville Platte prevailed last time the two south Louisiana schools met, 32-29.

Antoine is among the Lafayette area's leading rushers and receivers. He entered week ten with over 1,000 yards rushing and 510 yards receiving. The senior is easily averaging over 10 yards per carry.

"TCU wants me as a receiver," he said.

Antoine could play safety in college, too. He hasn't set a date for either visit yet.

"It'll probably be after the season ends," he said. Recommended Stories
