Texas A&M routs Auburn 63-21

Texas A&M traveled to Auburn, Alabama and in front of a crowd of 85,114 on Saturday night, the Aggies scored touchdowns on its first six possessions to open up a 42-7 halftime lead over the Auburn Tigers, then cruised to a 63-21 win. Johnny Manziel led 7 TD scoring drives and had 350 yards and 5 TDs in just over a half of play to lead the Aggies.

Texas A&M traveled to Auburn, Alabama and in front of a crowd of 85,114 on Saturday night, the Aggies scored touchdowns on its first six possessions to open up a 42-7 halftime lead over the Auburn Tigers, then cruised to a 63-21 win.

Johnny Manziel led 7 TD scoring drives and had 350 yards and 5 TDs in just over a half of play to lead the Aggies.

In the first half, Johnny Manziel led the Aggies on successive scoring drives of 70, 67, 64, 58, 77, and 73 yards.

Texas A&M's first touchdown came on a 16-yard pass from Manziel to Ryan Swope. The second Aggie touchdown was a 6-yard scramble by Manziel. The third touchdown was a 19-yard pass from Manziel to Swope. The fourth touchdown was a 34-yard run by Christine Michael. The fifth Aggie touchdown was a 2-yard run by Manziel, and the sixth touchdown was a a 7-yard run by Ben Malena.

While the Texas A&M offense was rolling up yards, the Aggie defense only allowed one Auburn drive of over 14 yards during the first half. In the second quarter with Texas A&M already leading 28-0, Auburn mounted a 9-play, 82 yard drive and Tre Mason scored on a 1-yard run to get Auburn on the scoreboard.

At the half, Texas A&M led in total yards, 464 to 91, and in first downs, 22 to 5. Neither team had committed a turnover.

Johnny Manziel had completed 15 of 21 passes for 230 yards and 2 TDs and had rushed for 70 yards and 2 TDs on 8 carries. Ryan Swope had 5 catches for 110 yards and 2 TDs. Mike Evans had 5 catches for 80 yards. Ben Malena had rushed for 63 yards and 1 TD on 7 carries and had a 6-yard catch. Christine Michael had rushed for 58 yards and 1 TD on 8 carries. Trey Williams had rushed for 36 yards on 5 carries and had 2 catches for 20 yards.

Johnny Manziel came on to lead one more TD drive to start the second half, with Manziel scoring on a 20-yard scramble to give the Aggies a 49-7 lead, and that was to be the end of Johnny Manziel's night. In just over one half of play, Johnny Manziel completed 16 of 23 passes for 260 yards and 2 TDs and rushed for 90 yards and 3 TDs on 9 carries.

Texas A&M made mass substitutions throughout the second half.

Jameill Showers came on at quarterback for the Aggies and led two long second half scoring drives, with A&M scoring touchdowns on a 1-yard run by Trey Williams and on a 2-yard pass from Showers to Malcome Kennedy.

The Aggie defense rested their starting defensive line for most of the second half and gave up a couple of long scoring drives by Auburn, but by that time the Aggies had this game wrapped up.

Texas A&M goes on the road for another SEC road win, this a 63-21 rout of Auburn.

This was an almost flawless Aggie performance against a struggling Auburn team.

Texas A&M dominated the stats just as they did the scoreboard. The Aggies outgained Auburn in total yards, 671 to 335, and in first downs 34-18.

Texas A&M had no turnovers and only 3 penalties for 27 yards, and two of those penalties were questionable holding calls.

In addition to Johnny Manziel's stellar performance, Jameill Showers was a perfect 8-of-8 passing for 59 yards and 1 TD. Trey Williams had the first of what will likely be many hundred yard rushing performances during his Aggie career, picking up 109 yards and 1 TD on 19 carries. Ryan Swope caught 6 passes for 140 yards and 2 TDs and Mike Evans added 5 catches for 80 yards. Christine Michael rushed for 75 yards and 1 TD on 9 carries while Ben Malena rushed for 63 yards and 1 TD on 7 carries.

The Aggie 'Wrecking Crew' defense was in top form as twenty-one different players recorded tackles, led my linebacker Steven Jenkins with 7 tackles, including a sack, defensive back Toney Hurd Jr with 5 tackles, and defensive end Damontre Moore, linebacker Sean Porter, linebacker Jonathan Stewart, and and defensive lineman Jonathan Mathis who each had 3 tackles and a sack.

With the win, Texas A&M (6-2, 3-2 SEC) becomes bowl eligible in their first SEC season.

Texas A&M will now travel to Starkville, Mississippi to face No. 11 Mississippi State next Saturday.
