Lancaster defensive end Daeshon Hall is starting to pile up the scholarship offers from of the top schools in Texas and beyond. Aggie Websider's David Sandhop talked to hall about his interest in the Aggies and other schools on his list
2012 was the class of the offensive lineman in the state of Texas with so many quality tackles and guards that attracted dozens of D-1 programs. The class of 2013 is quickly turning into the year of the defensive lineman. The latest to emerge with multiple D-1 BCS conference offers is Lancaster defensive end
Daeshon Hall
.
The DFW Metroplex product reported his measurables at 6-foot-6, 220 pounds and has run a personal best 4.6 forty. Last season, he had 60 tackles, 11 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
Asked to describe his playing style and the strength of his game, he simply gave a two word response…
"pass rusher."
He said he patterns his style of play from the Cowboys'
DeMarcus Ware
. He indicated that he needs to get bigger and stronger so he can be "college ready" by 2013. He plays basketball so it could be a challenge for him to put on weight until March 2013.
As far as recruiting goes, the offers are starting to roll in for the highly-regarded pass rushing defensive end.
“
Washington
,
Texas Tech
, and
Baylor
were his first offers and are in the mix,” Hall said. “I’ve attended the Baylor and
TCU
junior days so far and I’m invited to the Texas junior day this weekend. I'll probably go there.”
At this point, he doesn't have a specific date to visit
Texas A&M
but he said he definitely wants to check out the Aggies and meet Coach Sumlin.
“I haven’t met him yet, but I’ve heard great things about Coach Sumlin,” Hall said. “I want to sit down and get to know him better.”
The Lancaster native (originally from the state of Washington) got the rundown about Coach Sumlin and the Aggies from recent A&M commit and top 20 prospect Ismael Wilson of Dallas Bishop Dunne. Dasheon and Ishmael have been close friends for a long time and lived close together despite going to different schools. He said it would be great if they went to school together but he needs to go through the process and make a decision for himself.
"At this point, I like everybody,' Hall said. "I think I'm going to wait to make a decision so I can see other schools, but when I feel it I'll make my choice."
Hall said that academics and the academic support system is the most important aspect of choosing a school and next would be the student experience and environment on the campus and being comfortable with the school part of the experience more than the football aspect of things.
