While the Texas Aggie football team had a disappointing 2011 season, one bright spot was the play of kicker Randy Bullock. His season performance was rewarded with the Lou Groza Award

Randy Bullock
's record-setting senior season was rewarded with the 2011 Lou Groza Award, which is given annually to the nation's top collegiate placekicker.
Bullock, from Klein High School near Houston, received the prestigious award from Groza's youngest son, Judd Groza, at the Home Depot College Football Award Show, which originated from the Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney's BoardWalk at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
"I'm humbled by this tremendous honor because I know how many great placekickers there are around the nation," Bullock said. "I dedicated my senior season to my father and being a finalist for the Groza Award was one of my biggest goals. I can't express how much it means to me to be able to win this award for my family, Coach (Mike) Sherman and all my Texas A&M teammates and coaches."
Bullock was also named to his second major All-America team with his inclusion on the Walter Camp All-America squad, which was also announced on the award show. Previously, Bullock had been named to the All-America team selected by the American Football Coaches Association.
It's the second straight season that Texas A&M has produced a college football national award winner after
Von Miller
received the 2010 Butkus Award. Bullock joins Miller,
Dat Nguyen
(1998 Lombardi and Bednarik awards) and John David Crow (1957 Heisman Trophy) as Texas A&M's football award winners.
Bullock finished the regular season as the NCAA leader in field goals with 2.08 per game after connecting on a school record 25-of-29 three-point tries. Bullock's 127 points this season rank No. 2 nationally among placekickers, and he is one point shy of breaking A&M's 84-year old season scoring record of 128 set by Joel Hunt in 1927.
On the career field goals chart, Bullock's 58 three-pointers rank No. 2 in school history. He has connected on 58-of-75 field goal tries, which is on a school record pace for accuracy at 77.3 percent. He has scored 349 career points, which is already a school record.
